Pender County Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Athletic Coach for Boys Soccer. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for student-athlete development, demonstrate outstanding leadership, and be dedicated to cultivating a positive and competitive team culture.
The Head Coach is responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of the boys' soccer program, including organizing practices, managing game strategies, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering a positive environment where players can grow both athletically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the boys’ soccer team in practices, games, and tournaments.
- Develop and implement effective training strategies, ensuring player skill development, conditioning, and injury prevention.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes character, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence.
- Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, athletic directors, school staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
- Evaluate and assess player performance, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Maintain proper safety standards, including adherence to state and local athletic regulations.
- Oversee and manage equipment, uniforms, and facility needs.
- Engage in community and school outreach to promote the soccer program.
- Lead by example, modeling respectful behavior and ethical decision-making.
- Support players in achieving their academic and athletic goals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred. Experience coaching soccer is required.
- Strong understanding of the game, including rules, regulations, strategies, and tactics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, staff, and the community.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification prior to the season start.
- Must pass a background check and meet all state coaching certification requirements.
