Job Summary:
The Head Coach for Boys Volleyball is responsible for the overall development of student-athletes at both middle and high school levels. Duties include creating practice schedules, recruiting lower-level coaches, overseeing the 4th-6th Grade CSAL season, and collaborating with the Athletic Department to build a competitive program. Candidates must demonstrate positive leadership, effective communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with administrators, students, and parents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Develop student-athletes using drills, skills, and strategies
- Encourage athletes to train and improve performance during the off-season
Supervision:
- Track attendance, eligibility, and academic performance
- Manage equipment and uniforms with the Athletic Department
- Order and maintain volleyball equipment
Communication:
- Articulate the vision of the Boys Volleyball program to athletes and parents
- Hold a parent meeting early in the season
- Maintain effective communication with athletes and parents
Leadership:
- Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate sportsmanship
- Ensure compliance with school and league rules
- Hire and train Assistant Coaches with approval from the Athletic Department
Safety:
- Ensure the safety of athletes during practices and games
- Monitor gym conditions and report unsafe equipment
- Follow emergency action protocols
School Safety:
Maintain a safe and healthy environment, report injuries, and follow safety procedures as per Mid-Pacific Institute’s guidelines. Uphold mandatory reporting responsibilities regarding any misconduct.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Proven experience as a positive, motivating head coach
- Strong communication skills, capable of multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
- Ability to act as a role model and demonstrate sportsman-like behavior
Physical Demands:
- Frequent walking across 44 hilly acres, standing, and lifting (10-15 pounds)
- Regular use of computers and telephones
Working Conditions:
- Indoor environments frequently, outdoor environments occasionally
- Exposure to loud noise and extreme temperatures occasionally
