Job Summary:
The Head Coach position is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing player coaching, skill building, and direction at all practices, games, and tournaments throughout the season. This position administers and is responsible for the performance and conduct of the assigned team, including teaching skills and techniques while modeling and balancing hard work, fun, and discipline consistent with Club goals and mission.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare a schedule of drills and objectives for each practice as well as game and tournament strategies consistent with all Policies, Code of Conduct, and Club Handbook.
- Attend all practices, games, and tournaments for the assigned team and model proper strategies for optimal individual skill and team play, including but not limited to:
- Direct and manage all practices, games, and tournaments to teach and facilitate player execution of proper techniques and fundamentals of sport’s mechanics.
- Provide motivating guidance and feedback to players on court/field and ensure players receive adequate support.
- Provide clear and consistent direction and communication to each player to provide direction, feedback, and motivating information about the player’s skill, performance, and role on the team.
- Create and facilitate an environment to foster positive competition, team spirit, and sportsmanship among players.
- Provide oversight and coordinate with Assistant Coaching staff to ensure efficient and timely arrival and participation in tournaments, including but not limited to:
- Ensure all players are checked in and information is accurate and up to date for all tournaments.
- Chaperone players and conduct room checks during tournaments and games requiring travel.
- Maintain and secure training facilities.
- Provide oversight and direction to Assistant Coaching staff.
- Participate in all coach meetings and collaborate with peers to stay informed and aware of the latest information and techniques.
- Communicate and interact with player families and other internal and external business partners, both orally and in writing, in a clear, effective, and professional manner.
- Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
- Support the philosophy and vision of the Club.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s or Associate's degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching at the Club or High School level.
- Current Safe Sport Certification, with Background Screening.
- Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate effective organization, efficient time management, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Position may work in an indoor gym environment with prolonged sitting and/or standing.
- Position may work in an outdoor environment with prolonged sitting and/or standing.
- Requires frequent physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials. (max 75lbs)
- Occasionally works under tight time constraints or with business activities of a seasonal/cyclical nature.
- Occasionally works with angry or dissatisfied customers.
- Requires frequent travel and exposure to noisy and crowded environments.
