Mens Lacrosse Asst Coach
Description

The Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach will play a key role in supporting the development of student-athletes, helping them achieve excellence in their academic, spiritual, and physical endeavors. The coach will be responsible for assisting in the management and operation of the BYU Men's Lacrosse team, ensuring that all activities align with the university's mission and the principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is a part-time, year-to-year contract position, renewable annually.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of team practices, game day preparations, and team travel logistics.
  • Collaborate with university administrators to ensure compliance with academic standards, Honor Code policies, and other university guidelines.
  • Manage the team’s budget, donations, and expenses in line with university policies.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and class attendance of team members, ensuring they meet graduation requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and work closely with assistant coaches and athletic trainers.
  • Maintain responsibility for team-related equipment and its proper storage.
  • Uphold and promote the mission of BYU, serving as a role model for student-athletes.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation Management, Exercise Science & Wellness, Student Affairs, or a related field (required).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an assistant coach at the high school level or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience coaching Men’s Lacrosse at the university level (preferred).

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with US Men’s Lacrosse guidelines and regulations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of MCLA conference guidelines (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and develop leadership in students (required).
  • A commitment to supporting students’ academic success and adherence to the Honor Code (required).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with university administrators and other staff members to support the success of student-athletes on and off the field (required).
