Student Wellness and Facility Services at Brigham Young University enhances the student experience through six operational areas: Facility Services, Intramural Activities, Wellness Programs, Extramural Sports, Outdoors Unlimited, and SWELL Courses. Each serves the purpose of fulfilling the vision "to have all students live a healthy and active lifestyle."

The Racquetball Assistant Coach will play a vital role in supporting the Extramural Sports program, strengthening student-athletes' intellectual, spiritual, and physical development. This position is responsible for assistant coaching, scheduling, and the development of the BYU Racquetball team, ensuring adherence to University policies and guidelines, including academic standards, the Honor Code, and administrative needs. This is a part-time, year-to-year contract position, renewable annually, as determined by the University.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the BYU Racquetball team.
  • Organize and oversee team practices, game day preparations, team travel, and all communication with University administrators.
  • Ensure compliance with University guidelines, including academic standards, class attendance, the Honor Code, and BYU Housing requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and collaborate with assistant coaches and athletic trainers.
  • Maintain responsibility for team-related equipment and its storage.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation Management, Exercise Science & Wellness, Student Affairs, or a related field (required).
  • At least 3 years of assistant coaching experience at the high school or equivalent level (preferred).
  • Previous experience assistant coaching racquetball at the University level (preferred).

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Familiarity with US Racquetball guidelines and regulations (preferred).
  • Understanding of USA Racquetball collegiate conference guidelines (preferred).
  • Professional demeanor and approachability in the workplace (required).
  • Ability to develop leadership skills in students through team involvement (required).
  • Commitment to prioritizing graduation for team members (required).
  • Exemplary conduct aligned with the missions of BYU and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (required).
  • Motivation and support for students' academic success and adherence to the Honor Code (required).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators to ensure student success on and off the field (required).
