Description
The University of Minnesota is seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals to join our dynamic Sport Club Program as a Sport Club Coach. Our Sport Club Program is home to a wide range of student-organized and student-led competitive sports, and we are looking for coaches who are passionate about fostering both athletic and personal development in university students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coaching expertise to a specific sport club team in accordance with University policies and guidelines.
- Conduct training sessions, practices, and drills that focus on skill development, team strategy, and physical conditioning.
- Develop game plans, strategies, and support the team in competitive matches and tournaments.
- Mentor and guide student-athletes to help them achieve both their athletic and academic potential.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with student leaders in the planning and coordination of team events, competitions, and travel.
- Communicate regularly with Sport Club administration and participate in required meetings or training sessions.
- Serve as a role model of professionalism and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Previous sport coaching experience, ideally at the college or university level, or in a competitive sport club setting.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the rules, regulations, and techniques of the specific sport.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire student-athletes.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse team environment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Sports Management, Physical Education).
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Experience working with diverse groups of students.
