Department: Stadium Operations – Sports Field Management
Reporting Relationship: Director, Manager - Sports Field Management
Status: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for executing the operational plans and procedures pertaining to sports fields at the facilities we manage, including but not limited to Bank of America Stadium, Atrium Health Practice Facility, and McAlpine Park Training Facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform field testing to ensure league compliance with Field of Play Standards for NFL, MLS, and FIFA Quality Pro across all properties.
  • Communicate and lead a team of Sports Field Assistants for daily maintenance operations and event preparation.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to execute Agronomic, BMP, and IPM programs.
  • Obtain and maintain an NCDOA Pesticide applicator's license and attend courses to maintain certification credits.
  • Execute the layout, painting, and conversion of the fields for sporting and live events.
  • Supervise Sports Field Assistants to ensure the completion of tasks.
  • Communicate the daily operation plan and goals with Assistants.
  • Implement cultural practices and maintenance of Sports Fields.
  • Assist in field preparation and maintenance for NFL training camp.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited University in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, or a related field OR possess Certification from an accredited University.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Turfgrass Management Industry.
  • Ability to execute Agronomic, Best Management, and IPM Plans.
  • Proficient in multi-sport field painting, field layout and measurement, and field preparation for events.
  • Moderate experience with the use, calibration, and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Moderate experience using and maintaining various types of equipment used for fields and landscape maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application methods and spraying equipment calibration.
  • Working knowledge of cultural practices of Turfgrass management.
  • Willing to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator’s license.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation system operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Flexible to work evenings and/or weekends and all events, including those held on weekends, nights, and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screens and background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Sitting and working at a desk on a computer.
  • Lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Operating heavy machinery.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates mostly in an outside environment and in a stadium facility, which may include inclement weather conditions.
  • This position operates in a fast-paced working environment with schedules that are subject to change.
