STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH | LEVEL 1
Description
The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking a highly qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach | Level 1 to design and implement comprehensive physical performance programs. This position plays a critical role in enhancing the physical readiness and overall wellness of Marine Corps units, contributing to injury prevention, reconditioning, and athletic performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs aimed at enhancing force readiness, physical performance, and injury prevention.
- Provide active coaching and physical training instruction for units, small groups, and individuals.
- Develop specialized reconditioning programs for injured Marines and athletes.
- Collaborate with Force Fitness Instructors to enhance physical performance across the installation.
- Mentor and train new coaches, assistant coaches, and interns, ensuring high performance standards.
- Manage the maintenance and safety of performance center equipment, conducting daily inspections and reporting any issues.
- Assist in recommending and sourcing new equipment to meet performance center needs.
- Collect and manage data for program analysis related to equipment usage, policies, and resources.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Defense, Marine Corps, and installation policies, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Utilize strength and conditioning software and athlete management systems to create and monitor performance programs.
- Assist the Strength and Conditioning Program Manager in facility operations, mentoring staff, and conducting administrative duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Exercise Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field. - Certifications:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Must hold a valid CPR certification. - Experience:
Minimum of 6 months of active coaching experience in strength and conditioning in a professional sport, school (high school, collegiate, or above), or military/first responder environment. - Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with military leaders, coaches, and personnel.
- Strong public speaking and group training abilities.
- Expertise in sport-specific performance techniques and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and strength and conditioning software.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must adhere to all Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) policies.
- Must meet physical and background check requirements.
- Must be available to work during performance center operating hours, including some evenings and weekends.
