Strength and Conditioning Coach
Description

The University of St. Francis invites applications for the position of Strength & Conditioning Coach. This role oversees all development, training, and collaborative leadership aspects of the athletic department’s strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include the supervision of staff and personnel, organization and instruction. The University of St. Francis is a welcoming community committed to enhancing diversity and equity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.
  • Relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration, and the University community.
  • Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement.
  • Assume all training and oversight responsibilities related to strength and conditioning in cooperation with each sport’s head coach.
  • Manage all administrative responsibilities related to the fitness center, including purchase and maintenance of equipment.
  • Plan, develop, and conduct all in-season and off-season conditioning sessions.
  • Ensure proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate all strategies related to strength and conditioning.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic administration and all sport coaches.
  • Understand and support all athletic policies and regulations, as well as the philosophies of the University, Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, Mid-States Football Association, and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Understand and support the NAIA Champions of Character Coaches Code.
  • Represent the athletic department and university in a professional manner at various internal and external functions.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of strength & conditioning experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.

Preferred Requirements:

  • NSCA certification (CSCS).

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule:

  • Hours vary but include weekends, nights, and holidays.

Physical Requirements of Position:

  • Work is performed in both an office setting and athletic arenas with moderate exposure to varying weather conditions, but minimal health or safety hazards.
  • Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work requiring the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Hours of work include some nights and weekends and may involve working up to 12 hours a day.
