Join your passion with our mission at the Y in Central Maryland! We are seeking a dedicated Swim Director to provide leadership, operational management, and program development for the Aquatic and Youth & Family Experience programs. You will be responsible for the daily operations of our swim and family programming, including supervision of staff, program optimization, facility maintenance, and volunteer engagement. This role also involves leading the annual support campaign to further the Y’s impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise aquatic and family program activities, meeting community needs and Y objectives.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise staff and volunteers for swim programs.
- Ensure all staff certifications are up to date and oversee performance reviews to motivate and achieve goals.
- Manage daily pool operations, ensuring adherence to all safety and health regulations.
- Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR trainings.
- Create and schedule swim lessons, water fitness classes, and pool rentals.
- Oversee swim team operations and youth/family development programs.
- Develop and monitor program budgets to meet financial goals.
- Maintain high-quality standards in facilities and equipment management.
- Build positive relationships within the community and address member inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Health Sciences, or a related field (preferred).
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding (instructor level preferred). YMCA certification must be obtained within 60 days if Red Cross certified.
- Trainer certifications in CPR, AED, O2, Lifeguard Instructor, and Swim Instructor within 120 days of hire.
- Leadership experience in aquatics and youth programming, including staff supervision and budget management.
Essential Functions:
- Foster a collaborative and motivating environment for staff and members.
- Innovate and expand aquatic programming to enhance member engagement and retention.
- Ensure the safety and quality of all programs by adhering to Y health, safety, and operational regulations.
- Lead staff in the successful execution of the Y's annual support campaign and other fundraising efforts.
