Assistant Baseball Coach
Description

This position assists with coaching duties, operating under NCAA bylaws. The Assistant Baseball Coach will support the head baseball coach with recruitment and training for athletic competition and participate in the overall coordination of the program, as appropriate.

Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head baseball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
  • Assist in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the baseball program, in accordance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to student-athletes within the baseball program.
  • Delegate and multi-task responsibilities assigned by the head baseball coach.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Ability to conduct batting practice.
  • Ability to travel for recruitment.

  • Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
  • Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules.
  • Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling.
  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in the area of sporting specialty.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in the area of expertise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task responsibilities.
