Cheer Coach
Description
Coaching:
- Conduct all in-season and out-of-season practice sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Assist with filming, technique instruction, and skill development.
- Travel to all competitions, both in-state and out-of-state, when possible.
Administrative:
- Adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, RMAC (as applicable), and Colorado School of Mines.
- Perform administrative duties such as coordinating travel plans, maintaining compliance logs, and managing on-campus visits.
- Attend required meetings and collaborate with various departments.
Recruiting:
- Develop and implement annual and long-term recruiting strategies aligned with the University, Department, and program values.
- Assist in recruiting quality student-athletes who meet Colorado School of Mines' admissions qualifications.
- Maintain positive relationships with the parents of prospective and current student-athletes.
- Ensure timely and respectful responses to all recruiting communications.
- Travel for recruiting purposes as needed.
Other:
- Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports in the intercollegiate program.
- Must be willing to work irregular hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Comply with all Colorado School of Mines regulations and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in coaching cheer at a competitive level.
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations effectively.
Certifications and Licenses:
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with coaches, student-athletes, athletics administration, prospective student-athletes, and their families.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Job Demands and Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical activity associated with coaching roles, including standing for extended periods, walking, occasional running, and long workdays.
Potential Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
- Must be prepared to perform job duties in various weather conditions, including inclement weather.
