The Assistant Track & Field Coach - Hurdles is responsible for supporting the efforts in conducting a representative program in the sport. This position primarily involves assisting the Track & Field staff with daily practice and meet coaching for hurdling events while also offering support for sprints and relays. Additional responsibilities as specified below will be compensated, while other activities, such as recruiting and team meetings, may be participated in on a voluntary basis. Participation in any additional activities will not result in additional compensable hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Head Coach with practice organization, event coaching, and meet day coaching of hurdles.
• Provide additional support for coaching sprints and relays as needed.
• Contribute to the development of student-athletes by advising, educating, and motivating.
• Assist with team building and character development of student-athletes.
• Help with recruiting and administrative responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the head coach.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Availability to assist with coaching hurdling events at least two days per week (flexible days) from October through May, and to attend most track meets, typically held on Saturdays from December to May.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: Coaching at the intercollegiate level preferred; related coaching experience in other event groups or levels considered; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Familiarity with USTFCCCA coaching and training models for track and field is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential for interacting with students, parents, staff, and faculty within and outside the University community.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the varying time demands of the position.
