Assistant Mens Basketball Coach (Cochran Campus)
Description
The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Middle Georgia State University is responsible for assisting the Head Men's Basketball Coach in developing and maintaining a successful basketball program. This includes contributing to team and player development, ensuring academic success, and fostering positive community relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Development: Instruct and develop skills required for team and individual player growth in coordination with the Head Coach.
- On-Field Coaching: Assist with on-field coaching to enhance team performance.
- Strength & Conditioning: Provide instruction and supervision for strength and fitness conditioning for individuals and the team.
- Recruitment: Assist in identifying and recruiting academically and athletically talented student-athletes.
- Team Management: Aid in the operational aspects of team management, including equipment inventory and field preparation and maintenance.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with students, colleagues, staff, alumni, and parents to ensure program success and growth.
- Wellness Center Management: Serve as manager in the Cochran Wellness Center, with hours specified by the Director of Athletics and Wellness.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men's Basketball Coach or Athletic Administration.
- Campus Security Authority (CSA): Serve as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience as a player or coach at the collegiate or professional level.
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience, with the ability to understand and resolve issues within subordinate positions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Expertise in coaching and training student-athletes.
- Understanding of college-level athletic program management.
- Knowledge of Men's Basketball rules and procedures, including NAIA, SSAC, and NCAA regulations.
- Competence in sports field maintenance and job-related software programs.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
