Ames Community School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Football Coach to support our Head Football Coach in guiding student-athletes through the fundamentals of football. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sportsmanship, effective communication, and the ability to coach players at various skill levels.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Assist the Head Football Coach in instructing athletes on football fundamentals, strategies, and safety protocols.
• Attend all practices, games, and team-related events, coaching at individual, small group, and team levels.
• Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Communicate effectively with the coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Participate in special events, including banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Adhere to and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications:

• Possess a current Iowa Department of Education coaching authorization.
• Concussion certification.
• Previous experience coaching football at the high school level is preferred.
