Head Athletic Trainer
Description

The Worcester Railers Hockey Club is seeking a Head Athletic Trainer to provide all athletic training support for the team during the ECHL season. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for the overall mission of the Worcester Railers Hockey Club and have a strong background working with top athletes in a highly competitive atmosphere. This role requires travel during the season.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend all games and practices, including travel with the team.
  • Manage the physical well-being of team personnel, including proper treatment of injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with all worker’s compensation procedures as established by the ECHL’s insurance provider.
  • Maintain proper documentation, filing, and reporting of all medical treatments and maintenance of medical files for each player.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between medical service providers and the team.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and set-up of training areas both at home and on the road.
  • Oversee the medical supply and medical expense budget, and account for the same.
  • Assist the equipment manager in loading the team bus with equipment, gear, and other necessary travel bags.
  • Support the Head Coach/General Manager with any non-medical team needs such as travel, set up of locker rooms, and other player-related matters.
  • Work closely with the team’s hockey staff, ensuring that treatment protocols and training workouts for prospects follow team guidelines and procedures.
  • Report to the COO and Head Coach/General Manager.

Requirements:

  • CSCS certification preferred.
  • Strength and conditioning experience preferred.
  • Experience with a professional hockey team is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in minimizing workers compensation claims and exposure for a hockey team.
  • Ability to work within a defined budget.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and team player.
  • Word processing skills.
  • Energy, a professional attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Extremely coachable and eager to learn every day.
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to build a career in the sports business.
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
