Head Coach - Womens Softball
Description

North Carolina Central University Athletics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Coach for its Women’s Softball program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the development of student-athletes in both academic and athletic pursuits, ensuring that the program reflects the values and standards of the University and the NCAA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, organize, and administer all aspects of the Women’s Softball program, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development.
  • Recruit and retain talented student-athletes who can succeed both academically and athletically in a Division I environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and manage the program’s budget, including fiscal oversight and planning.
  • Foster a cooperative and inclusive team culture that encourages diversity and inclusion.
  • Mentor and guide student-athletes, promoting academic success and graduation.
  • Collaborate with university staff and faculty to ensure student-athlete success.
  • Represent the university and program at various events, meetings, and functions.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with alumni, boosters, and the community.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of women’s softball, including current trends, techniques, and strategies.
  • Expertise in athletic recruitment methods and techniques, particularly for Division I programs.
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Ability to lead and guide Division I student-athletes, ensuring their athletic and personal development.
  • In-depth knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, retention, and overall experience of student-athletes.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative and positive work environment.
  • Strong decision-making and administrative skills, with the ability to make procedural judgments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proven successful coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level, with a strong preference for NCAA Division I program experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and the graduation of student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Current knowledge of NCAA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience leading a successful NCAA Division I women’s softball program.
